May 5th, 2016

Get to Know Your Aquifer

The Oregon Water Resources Department held an informational meeting about the Columbia River Basalt Group Aquifers in the Milton-Freewater area. OWRD Hydrogeologist Jen Woody discussed the local basalt groundwater system and groundwater level data from the 1950s to the present.  The meeting was held Thursday, May 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the Rotary Room at the Milton-Freewater Community Building, 109 NE 5th in Milton-Freewater.

Among its many functions, the Oregon Water Resources Department conducts hydrologic studies, enforces water laws, and works with water users and local watershed groups on water needs. OWRD’s Groundwater Section collects and analyzes hydrologic data for use in water availability assessments, mapping, planning for future water supplies, and supporting local efforts.
